Gift bags for the less privileged mothers of new babies in local, State hospitals of the Western Cape
The Hug a Baby project provides a bag of essentials to the mothers of new babies in the 5 State hospitals that we currently serve in the Western Cape. That is upwards of 3000 bags a year. The bags are given to the maternity wards, where the staff enjoy giving them to the mothers.
Monthly, the supply chain involves 300 knitters, 60-70 maternity staff, 50+ supplier staff plus helpers and donors. When we add family and friends of the mothers then over 1000 people are involved or exposed to the bag each month.
So many of our mothers, both women and girls, are unemployed. They are exposed to relentless poverty and are living cramped into poor housing and shacks. We know, that each month, bags are given to up to 50 homeless mothers. Many babies are born of rape, incest and to mothers with AIDS.
The Hug a Baby bag is a love gift from a loving God, via his loving children and nurses, to the many, very needy mothers and babies we serve.
Jesus said "Whatever you do for one of these 'children' you do for me"
PURPOSE OF THIS SITE
1. Show our supporters that every cent and item they give is put to great use and is helping to change lives for the better, just as we have promised.
2. Show that the love and compassion which we are all born with, when used, never fail to change lives.
3. To show everyone that they can engage with the needs of the less privileged around them.
4. Think on these things. If you cannot 'do' or have 'time' then of course you may always gift money that will be put to great use within the areas mentioned.
