- Women living on farms who have little paid work.
- Teenage girls who are unemployed.
Hug a Baby is a service provider to four local State hospitals. A Hug a Baby bag of essentials is given FREE by us for the nursing staff to give to every mother of a new baby born in their hospitals. 2500 bags a year!
Hug a Baby is now a treasured activity of the four Maternity wards we serve. Mothers now ask for their bag!
Unemployed farm women are being given the chance to learn a new skill -FOR FREE! They earn by making blankets, flannels and vests to be put into the Hug a Baby bags that are given to mothers of new babies.
The ability to earn for themselves brings dignity to these women. As one of them said “Now I feel I am worth something”.
Girls who leave school with a low academic standard often remain unemployed although they may be very gifted in practical ways.
Hug a Baby workshops teach such teenagers the skills of marking, cutting and making clothes with industrial sewing machines -FOR FREE - they receive a certificate of Introduction to the Industrial Textile Trade. So giving them a much improved possibility to get work.
